I was a bit MIA lately, but for what I feel is a good reason. My mother in law came over to visit for a week, so we were catching up and going out a lot. I love it when she comes over. She’s a fairly active and adventurous gal, so we go shopping and trail walking almost every day when she is over. Extremely enjoyable, and get’s me out into the wild world for a while.
While she was over I discovered a couple things.
The first thing was realizing, a tad to late, that ankle socks and trail walking do Not go together. The darn things kept sagging down into my shoes and I ended up with a bit of a blister on my heels by the time we were back home. Ouch! There’s really no excuse for wearing the ankle socks to walk, as I have the calf high ones too, so I won’t make that mistake again any time soon.
The second thing I realized is that I need to spend a bit more and get some actual walking shoes that give all around support. Walmart shoes just aren’t cutting it. Walking on the flat area’s was fine, but get on any kind of incline and it was a lesson in pain. It’s hard to be motivated to walk around when my feet hurt before any real workout.
So for my To-Do list this week I am going to scout out a good pair of walking shoes. And from an actual sporting shop, instead of from WallyWorld this time.

@Yasmine: Thanks, I’ll check that type out when I go shoe shopping.
Christina,
Why don’t you try walking shoes from Adidas. The sole is soft and smooth. You can walk as far as you can. It will not hurt your ankle, promise!
By the way, it’s nice to know that you and your mother in law are getting along together.
